Quantity Surveyor (London based/ willing to travel)

Main purpose of job: 

Responsible for implementation of commercial procedures and best practice on the project, playing a lead role in the commercial success of the project. Ensuring clear and concise records are maintained, accurate final margin forecasts and any adverse trends are advised timeously.

Main tasks of job:
  • Arrange detailed and meaningful Tender Clarification Interviews and arrange sub-contract documents
  • Assist the project manager in identifying opportunities and risks and working towards solutions. Ensure clear and concise records are maintained
  • Maximize use of Preferred Sub-contractor Initiative
  • Identify entitlement and ensure record keeping is in place to support any entitlement submission and that appropriate notices are raised and issued.
  • Ensure Main Contract and Sub-Contract Final Account work is progressed as the works proceeds
  • Prepare fully substantiated interim and final account submissions
  • Assist in commercial negotiations and identify onerous terms and conditions
  • Prepare Operating Statements, Cost to Completion forecast and cash forecasts, monitor cash flow projections
  • Ensure Sub-contract and key Supply Orders are issued and agreed in accordance with the terms of the main contract and prior to Sub-contractor’s commencement
  • Value Sub-contractor’s contract and variation works on an interim basis and issue Notice of Payment details and, where appropriate, withholding notices
  • Secure release of retentions and Performance Bonds at Practical Completion and Final Certificate
  • Ensure use of correct method of measurement
  • Ensure company’s position on onerous terms and conditions is maintained
  • Attend commercial and site progress  meetings
  • Any other reasonable task that may be required by the line manager

Requirements

Qualifications

A postgraduate qualification or membership of a relevant professional body

Experience/skills
  • Experience in a similar role
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages (MS Word, Excel)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work under pressure to deadline, and a flexible attitude towards work in order with a variable and demanding workload.
