Opened for business
Vaughan Heating opened for business on 1st April 1955 in an old mill building in Belfast with Albert Vaughan and his secretary.
A growing business needs larger premises
The business moved to Tomb Street in 1958, then on to Corporation Street in 1961. Vaughan occupied two floors of office space, with bigger stores, a workshop and a ground floor show room.
Scottish office opened
The 1960s saw a big growth period with turnover doubling year on year. A regional office was opened near Edinburgh.
Moved to our current home in Newtownabbey
Land was acquired from the Department of Commerce and a purpose built office, factory and store were built. This coincided with the establishment of an electrical division.
Brankin Engineering aquired
Recognising the growing importance of air conditioning in commercial buildings (until that time the only air conditioned building were hospitals), Vaughan acquired W Brankin, a manufacturer of air ducting.
Vaughan Homes founded
Vaughan Homes was established in 1985 and has grown considerably, building a reputation for creating properties of quality and distinction having completed numerous luxury property developments throughout the Province. Vaughan Homes continues to update and review its building techniques to achieve the very best in house building, giving their customers’ homes which they can be proud of.
Newcastle office opened
An office was opened in the North East of England to expand the company’s geographical coverage in a quest for further growth.
Warrington office opened
A further regional office was opened in Warrington, servicing the rapidly growing North West market.
Celebrated 60 years in business
When you consider the turbulent and unpredictable nature of the UK construction sector over the past 60 years, Mr Vaughan’s success in both guiding the business and managing its succession is proof of a thriving legacy ready to innovate and succeed for generations to come.
April 2020 marked 65 years in business when AJ (Bert) Vaughan opened the Vaughan Heating company. Testament to his commitment and passion for the business he was still regularly attending the office until the Covid-19 pandemic. Much has changed in our industry and the world over the past 65 years, but perhaps no more so than in the past year as we all adjust to dealing with home working, social distancing, regular hand sanitising and zoom meetings.
Whilst we quietly celebrated our significant milestone, we want to thank all our people and partners for their part in our history and look forward to future success.
