Walney Island Airport, Barrow-in-Furness
Vaughan engineering services were awarded the electrical and mechanical building systems upgrade on the new air field hanger and control facility on the Walney base by Graham civils division. The main customer is BAE systems who operate the whole site for the government.
A new hanger building for incoming planes will be housed in a new state of the art building, consisting of full electrical and mechanical safe systems to protect the airplanes. A garage facility will house emergency systems, and vehicles to run the complex. A new control tower will replace the existing building and will be an integral part of the new complex.
Vaughan will interface with BAE specialists to fully commission the building early in 2019.
